Anti-Sag Meter
- DESCRIPTION
-
Coatings applied to non-horizontal surfaces will sink due to gravity. Sagging resistance is a factor of the composition and viscosity of the coating, as well as the thickness applied .
The Anti-Sag meter allows quantification of sagging properties of coatings.-
Rapid coating sagging test on non-horizontal surfaces.
-
Available in most coating thickness ranges .
The applicator is a U-shaped pull bar with a series of 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) wide notches of varying clearances, 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) apart. It is 5 inches (127 mm) wide and produces a total film width of 3-3/8 inches (86 mm). When a reduction is performed, a series of parallel stripes of different wet film thickness will form. This panel is placed on a vertical surface with the stripes horizontal and the thickest strip lower.
As the film stripes sink downward, some of the 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) uncoated spaces may be completely covered. The free space produced by the thickest strip of film, which does not completely sink to the bottom strip, is the anti-sinking index of the coating.Technical data Settlement range: Standard: 3 to 12 mils (76 to 305 µm)
